While many found the character of Fred to be a screeching irritant, the huge success of Lucas Cruikshank's channel couldn't be denied. While the content of the channel was popular with children, the backstory of Fred himself is surprisingly dark. He lives with a drug-addicted and alcoholic mother and his father - who he's never met - is on death row.

Class Election Part 1. Fred decides to run against Kevin in the class election and enlists the help of his new friend and campaign manager, Starr.
But soon, the elections get dirty with negative attacks. Class Election Part 2. Fred and Kevin discover that their opponent for class president, Starr, is bribing students in order to win. Wanting to expose Starr as a cheater, the boys ban together.
Flour Baby. Fred and Starr are Home Economics partners and their homework assignment is to take care of a 5-pound sack of flour for a week. At first their partnership is perfect, but things quickly unravel! No Clue. A murder mystery unfolds at school when Fred discovers the class gerbil has died. Everyone is on edge as Fred takes it upon himself to find out who done it?
The Battle Of Little Figglehorn. Fred makes some bad decisions, thinking he is moving to Alaska. In January he set up his own channel, called "lucas", in which he appeared as himself. Between and , Cruikshank partnered with Jennifer Veal to produce a series of videos on the channel, which was renamed "Lucas and Jenny," adding to the duo's popularity.
After Jenny left the channel in November , Cruikshank reverted the channel name back to "lucas" and continued to release vlogs. In April , Cruickshank's channel name was changed to "Lucas", and currently sees over 3 million subscribers as of Cruikshank made an appearance on Brandon Rogers' Four Million Subscriber Freakout video after the latter gained four million subscribers as of June Cruikshank came out publicly as gay in a YouTube video released August 20, , saying, "I'm gay.
